EAST ELEMENTARY Erica Housley – 3 rd Grade Teacher Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma College: Oklahoma State University Years in education: 14 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 14 “I want to be a cheerleader for my students who are not as fortunate and don’t have someone in their corner. I want kids who may be going through some unimaginable things in their home lives to know that when they come to school, I am happy they are there. I want them to know they have a bright future and that anything is possible.

As I encounter a student, I consider the type of impact I want to have. What will I do today to add to the emotional health, education, or life experience of each child I encounter? Health, fitness, and education are the three most valued attributes needed for a successful future. I have a passion for teaching and I strive to do what I can to provide many opportunities to my students in hopes of instilling the same mindset in them. I am particularly excited to know my colleagues understand my role and what I contribute to the quest of developing the whole child.” WEST ELEMENTARY Jacqueline Novotny – Kindergarten Teacher Hometown: Oologah, Oklahoma College: Northeastern State University Years in education: 15 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 6 “My students and their families are my inspiration. Being a child’s advocate and helping him or her realize their own potential is my greatest joy in teaching.
I feel at home in the classroom and I love helping them grow as students and as individuals. I also enjoy working with other teachers. Sharing best practices and encouraging stories, and working together to develop lessons are all great motivators. Being surrounded by great teachers makes me want to be a better teacher every day.” EAST INTERMEDIATE Ashley Mackey – 5 th Grade Math and Science Teacher Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma College: Oklahoma State University Years in education: 11 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 4 “I love kids of all ages, from all backgrounds – the strugglers and the straight-A students.
I want every child in my care to develop a love of learning and to develop a bond with me. As they grow older and move on, I hope they will still carry with them the knowledge that I loved them with all of my heart, and I believed they could succeed. Most importantly, I want kids to know they have something special to offer the world.” WEST INTERMEDIATE Elle Fowler – 6 th Grade Teacher Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma College: Oklahoma State University Years in education: 7 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 7 “Being selected as Teacher of the Year at West Intermediate means I have an opportunity and responsibility to give voice to the innovative teaching and real world thinking we are embedding in our instructional practice. This is a moment to celebrate the successes and progress we are making as a site in nurturing global citizens filled with compassion and confidence. I am humbled and honored that my peers have selected me to give voice to our work and to represent our school.” MIDDLE SCHOOL Dana Stokes – 7 th and 8 th Grade Math Teacher Hometown: Kirkwood, Missouri College: University of Northern Iowa Years in education: 30 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 25 “As a middle school teacher, I am not only here to educate students, but to shape them and help them become the person they are meant to be. I am their teacher, their friend, their counselor, their confidant, and at times, the voice of truth and reason.
